Basic Content of Session
I am very pleased and con±dent that I will be working with this client. She has been su²ering from
depression the past two years, and nothing seems to have worked for her. She has been on medicaTons,
but decided to stop 6 months ago. Client stated that she feels no di²erent now compared it takin
medicaTons. I think that I will take on a slightly di²erent approach to make sure my client get the correct
help that she needs.
At the beginning of my session I will ask my client was brought her into therapy session, and what are
her expectaTon. I may also give feedback and realisTc expectaTon of what therapy session consist of. I
will bring up discussion of what she has on her mind and what she would like to talk about and any goals
that she may have in mind. I would also observe in the session her body language, tone of voice and her
a²ect. As this is a faith based counseling session I would be including prayer and scriptures from the
bible to use as a therapeuTc technique and environment.
During my session with my client I noTced that she gave very limited eye contact with a low tone and
sadness in her voice. Prior to our session I lead on the prayer as she began to bow her head. She stated
that her childhood was not the best as she had to care for her mother and siblings while her dad goes to
work to support the family. She felt that is was too much as a burden on her, but I no choice as her mom
and siblings needed to be care for. As an adult now she stated that she got married 7 years ago and has a
6 year old daughter. At Tmes her husband can be verbally abusive and complains about her being a stay
at home mom and states that she is useless. She started to become tearful as she didn’t want to go into
more details about things that may be going on. She stated that she began to fell worthless and hopeless
and ±nds herself doing nothing but wanTng it stay in bed all day and sleep.
