The opening paragraphs to your case study review paper should introduce the general topic of your paper and a brief overview of what each major topic area of the paper will cover. Please note that the first sentence of each new paragraph should be indented .5 inches. The major header for each topic area of the paper should be centered and bolded. The entire paper should be set for double spacing, but make sure that no extra line spacing is included in any of the paragraph settings in MS Word. The entire paper should also be set for a 1” margin spacing on the left, right, top, and bottom of the page. Additionally, the entire paper should be typed in Times New Roman 12 point type. The next major topic area of this sample will cover headers as they should be used within the paper, as they help to mark the transition from one topic area to the next.
Paper Headers and Sub-headers
Paper headers and sub-headers are a way of organizing your paper into subject or topic areas that you intend to cover, or have been requested to cover in the paper requirements. These are expected to be utilized in your paper. The header used for this major topic area is called a Level 1 Header and is always centered and bolded as seen above. To organize your paper further, you may want to breakdown a major topic into sub-topics. This can be accomplished with sub-headers called Level Two and Level Three Headers, examples follow.
Level Two Header
Level Two Headings are placed at the left margin and bolded in upper and lower case letters.
Level three headers. Level three headings are indented and bolded. Capitalize only the first word, include a period at the end, and continue the text without using a hard return.
These obviously need to be headers that are descriptive of your subject matter following the header that you are using to organize your paper.
