Your final research essay is a 4-5 page research essay answering one of the prompts below. You will use scholarly research sources to support your thesis statement; this means you will use one quote from three different research articles (so there will be three research quotes total in the essay). You can use things you have written in your homework responses as drafts for this essay, but be sure you revise your responses (fix the errors).
Page length: 4-5 pages
Sources Required: 3 from library database (CREDO, JSTOR, Academic Search Compelte).

Prompts (select ONE prompt from below to write your research essay):
1. Discuss the benefits of feminism in Hip Hop.
2. Discuss the ways hip hop has changed since its beginnings and analyze whether these changes are overall a positive or a negative.
3. Discuss how an Afrocentric education can benefit HBCU students.
4. Discuss how African American poetry reclaims Africa and their overall representation of Africa as positive, negative, fictional, romanticized, etc. (Has to be poems we read in class).
