Candidates will complete a capstone masters project guided by a research question related to teaching English Language Learners that extends their understanding and application of content in the program. Candidates will review the literature, create a small-scale study, which they will conduct, and present their findings and implications. Matriculants only.

• Introduction:  The introduction to your research project will provide the context and rationale for your study. It will include a statement of the problem, research questions, and definitions of any key terms or concepts that are integral to understanding your questions. The following questions should guide your writing: What is the problem? What are your research questions for studying this problem? Why is this problem worth studying? 1-2 pages. 

• Research Methodology:  The methodology section of your research project will provide a justification for your overall research design and will include information on the research site, participants and/or materials, data collection methods (interviews, document analysis, focus groups, case study, participant observation, audio/video, etc.) and plans for data analysis. You must also include a draft of your permission slips and/or consent forms if applicable. 2-3 pages.

• Research Findings:  The purpose of this assignment is to begin summarizing and analyzing the key findings or emerging themes from your data. You will need to show evidence to support your finding/theme (interview quotes, observation field-notes, personal memos, documents, etc.). 3-4 pages

• Conclusions and Implications: 1 – 2 pages
