You represent a nonprofit organization called National Immigration Law Center (NILC) that’s trying to raise awareness for its cause and to increase contributions over the holidays. All organizations seek gifts at the end of the year so your appeal will compete with many others; you will need to be creative.

The future of immigration is quite uncertain in the U.S. and NILC is looking to raise money to fund its initiatives which include lobbying, mounting legal challenges to initiatives that are seeking to dismantle immigration programs and support for immigrant communities throughout the U.S.

Important context and facts:

• Your audience is anyone in the U.S. who cares about immigration reform immigrants’ rights and human rights.
• You are writing this post for the organization’s blog on behalf of the executive director of NILC but you have a plan for disseminating the post across important social media channels and promoting it to the organization’s partners, board members and other stakeholders.
• You want to break the organization’s year-end 2018 fundraising record of $25.5 million. (You want to end 2019 with more than $25.5 million).

Instructions:

1. Write a 200 to 250-word blog post that briefly explains why people should give to NILC this year – why it’s so important. Be bold.
2. Name the initiatives a person’s contribution will support.
3. Provide a strong call to action and provide the website or link people can visit to contribute.
4. Include the name and title of the executive director: Cara Black, Executive Director, NILC.
