For this Written Response Assessment, you will apply theories, models, and concepts of organizational psychology to the micro-, meso-, and macro-levels of an organization. Your written response should total a minimum of 14 pages. Be sure to support your writing with references to scholarly sources. Your written response must follow APA format.
Organizational Psychology – Micro-Level
Select an organization for which you currently work or have previously worked or a well-known organization (e.g., Amazon, Walmart, Facebook, etc.).
- Compare and contrast two motivational theories/models. Include in your response why one theory or model might be better suited to the organization than the other for reducing absenteeism and turnover. Be specific. How would you assess that a given leadership theory/model has improved job satisfaction? (2 pages)
- Compare and contrast two leadership theories (one contemporary and one historical). Explain how each contributed to the field of I/O psychology and which theory would be better suited to the organization for improving job satisfaction. How would you assess that a given leadership theory/model has improved job satisfaction? (2 pages)
Part II: Organizational Psychology – Meso-Level
Select an organization for which you currently work or have previously worked or a well-known organization (e.g., Amazon, Walmart, Facebook, etc.).
- Compare two theories/models of group dynamics. In your comparison, assess the importance of each for overall team effectiveness. Explain how you would apply one of the theories/models to the organization to improve team effectiveness. Include specific examples and current research on group dynamics to support your explanation. (2 pages)
- Describe evolutionary and revolutionary organization change. Then, explain the role of change management in relation to evolutionary and revolutionary change. In your explanation, include why change must be managed and when it is best to implement. (1 page)
- Compare two change management theories/models in terms of their application within the workplace. Explain which theory/model you would use to manage a specific change in the organization you selected and why. Support your argument with specific examples and evidence from the literature. (2 pages)
Part III: Organizational Psychology – Macro Level
Select an organization for which you currently work or have previously worked or a well-known organization (e.g., Amazon, Walmart, Facebook, etc.).
- Explain systems theory and assess its importance for organizational change and development. In your assessment, use specific examples from the organization you selected and current research on systems theory to illustrate you points. (2 pages)
