Because of the widespread cheating on midterm 1, we will have a paper to demonstrate your knowledge of the material. You should write a 5-10 page paper that essentially provides a synopsis of what we learned in Chapter 4 and the start of chapter 5, both using the recorded lectures and text. A successful paper will describe how the math review was necessary for our later understanding of that material in chapter 4. It should also provide your own original numeric examples that demonstrate how utility maximization works. For students who studied and learned the material for the test, this should not be a difficult task. The paper will be due on Blackboard using a Turnitin assignment on Oct. 30th at noon.
Some people have asked for an extension on the paper due date (October 30th). Handing in the paper after 10/30 is fine for those who have a busy schedule this week.
Similarly, others have asked about the paper’s format and length. Any length and font/format etc. is fine as long as you explain well what you have learned in the class. You should essentially ‘teach’ the material back to me. If you want to include equations or graphs, neatly handwritten graphs or equations are fine. Double-spaced is preferred.
