The goals of the assignment are (1) to provide DAP opportunities to support preschool students’ physical, cognitive, behavioral, social, and emotional development; (2) to plan and manage instruction based upon knowledge of subject matter, students, and local, state, professional, and/or national standards; (3) to select ageappropriate materials to support the lesson, and (4) to integrate media and technology into a lesson. In Module 1, using the format provided, you will design a lesson that is developmentally appropriate according to the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) standards and aligned to relevant standards. Course Objectives  Explain the multiple components of curriculum design appropriate for early childhood education.  Design and assess curriculum alignment with local, state, and national early learning standards.  Design and evaluate an evidence-based curriculum that promotes physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and language development in alignment to developmentally appropriate practice.  Design a developmentally appropriate curriculum and learning environment which includes media and technology in early childhood settings.  Discuss NAEYC’s position statement on developmentally appropriate practice and the relevance to real-world early childhood education settings.
