-You will write a short paper in response to the person’s draft. In other words, pretend that you are the teacher and write comments that you would usually find at the end of final draft papers.
-prepare a 250+ word response that targets the areas of improvement below. You will then post your response, written and saved in a Word document
–Things to consider as you peer review:
Make your comments and suggestions specific; support your assertions with examples from the papers you are discussing, and give concrete revision suggestions.
Clearly indicate your name on both copies of each response and the name of the writer whose draft you are responding to – I need to know who to give credit to.
The response paper should follow our standard class formatting: 12 point Times New Roman Font, double-spaced, with 1” margins on all four sides of the page, and use correct MLA or APA citations (depends on the type of citations you plan to use this semester). Your response should be clear, concise, well-written, and free of any errors so that your peer can fully understand exactly what you mean.
Do feel free to “mark-up” the person’s paper (attach a scanned copy if you do so), correcting errors, addressing formatting concerns, etc.; however, your main task is to provide the response paper, not correct someone else’s typos.
Finally, please re-read this assignment sheet and the Executive Summary assignment sheet before you turn this assignment in on Moodle to assure you have adhered to the criteria correctly.
-Areas of Improvement to be addressed in your response:
Format: Is the formatting of the Executive Summary correct (heading, spacing, margins, etc.)?
Substance: Does the Executive Summary incorporate the research and contain sufficient concrete details through summary to be credible and easily understood?
Rhetorical strategies: Is the tone and vocabulary appropriate for the audience? Has the writer made a good case for why this source is important, and to whom?
Cohesion: Does each paragraph have only one main idea? Does each sentence connect to the next? Is the writing concise and to the point?
Mechanics: Is the memo free of spelling, mechanical, usage, punctuation, and grammar errors?
Research: Is the sources list correctly formatted? Do the sources appear credible?
