The study of pathophysiology is about how normal physiological processes in the body are altered by disease. Since there are a number of different ways this might happen, this pathophysiology course is more concerned that the student understands WHAT common physiological mechanisms fail, and, even more importantly, WHY they fail. As such, a passing grade on this critical thinking paper is required for successful completion of this course.

In a paper of 750-1,000 words, explain the disturbance of the physiological processes caused by any disease and/or syndrome that we discussed (or will discuss) in this course.

Be sure to include the normal physiology as well as what occurred to cause this disease and/or syndrome.
Explain WHY the clinical manifestations are a direct or indirect result of this pathology and connect the physiology with the clinical signs/symptoms.
Create a case study to illustrate the disease and/or syndrome as it might present in a patient.
Plan a possible treatment plan for the disease and/or syndrome, including an experimental/alternate approach. Briefly state possible pros and cons of this approach.
Include three to five properly cited references from credible sources.
