I see nursing as a rewarding profession. This is one of the many reasons, why I chose this noble career, and ultimately how I prepare for my future. My personal beliefs, goals and expectations can allow me to expand in a network of numerous opportunities, and, hard work and determination can set the stage for a rewarding future. I will gain the knowledge and the pre- requisites to complete in a competitive career. Yet display an ultimate sense of compassion and care for humanity. After much deliberation, I chose to go back to school and continue my education to further my knowledge in the career that appealed to me the most. To bring a new vision and the future of nursing and to be a role model to my sons.
In 2012.I completed my licensed practical nursing after working as a teacher for many years. My work as a LPN was challenging in many ways, as a new migrant amongst other areas .I had to learn many policies and procedures, which had seemed extremely difficult and unattainable at first. However, as time went by , these procedures became easier. I felt a sense of satisfaction also confident .As time went by my I became comfortable in my role and later on boredom stepped in. I wanted to experience more. Even though the desire was there to work hard to achieve my license as an LPN.I was not being respected. I realized that even though I may know more than a registered nurse fresh out of school. My respect and knowledge of this profession does not matter. I realized it is all about the RN . I became dissatisfied at my position as a LPN .After, many discourses with a variety of RNs in various disciplines. I realize that the world of nursing compasses far more than my present position in my stage of life. So in May, 2014. I decide to further my education and start my humbling journey to become a RN.
On a daily basis, I am faced with many decisions making. In order to make the right decision ,I have to think critically, this helps me to do my job with confidence and help to remain humane. These attributes play a vital role in my current and future nursing career. Time after time , I see nurses lack simple basic qualities to a client. It may be a back rub or a listening ear to bring a smile to a client’s face. These gestures can develop in a trusting and rewarding relationship, that can optimized in the critical performance of care. Holistic focus is more important to foster care. Making a difference is important to me, and with continuing education and by increasing my knowledge. I am confident I can achieve my goal.
Being a positive role model to my two sons, will help to appreciate education and strive to succeed in their future endeavors. Often times children need that motivation to encourage them, to see how sacrifice ,discipline and hard work pay off in the end. I need for my sons to understand that they are the benefactors of their own actions. So in order for them to appreciate’ the finer thing in life’ they have to be committed and devoted. I want my children to realize success is an achievement of hard work. There will be problems along the way but as long I set my eyes on the prize I will be able to achieve my goal and enjoy the benefits in the end. This is why I made this critical decision to further my education. Life comes with responsibilities. If I handle these correctly and never stop pushing towards my goal.
My personal goals, beliefs and expectations can allow me to set my future and continue my education in the field of nursing. Nursing is a rewarding profession and deciding to further my knowledge in the most appealing career, giving me a new outlook to the vision and future of nursing and always be a positive role model to my boys, will help me set the stage for a rewarding outcome .Determination, hard work compassion and humility while for a client will help me effectively carry out these goals,and set me apart from most in this competitive field. With these steps I vehemently hope one day be a notable member and know I have made a difference.
