There are projects that are related to the development of this website. For this project to be a success, then there must be implementation of a real time communication system. This project is necessary considering the importance that is attached to the process. This is because the sole objective of this project is to enhance fast communication between the restaurants and the customers. Therefore, this project is essential to the utilization of the full potential of the website. It is imperative to note that leaving a message on the website or by email is not real time and results to a delay in the whole process. This project will make use of the full-duplex mode (Lawrence & Tavakol 2007). In this instance, it will be possible for communication between both directions to occur at the same time. All this will be possible in either a single carrier or a circuit. This way, the communication will flow directly from the source to the restaurant immediately.
After designing of this real time communications systems, there will be a need for creation of a system, which will lead, allow customers to send messages through their mobile phones. This is necessary since not all customers of the restaurants have access to internet on the go. In fact, it is an indispensable fact that not many people carry their computers everywhere. In addition, there are customers who do not have smart phones to access the website, which may be complex and create problems for those who do not have such equipment to log in (Heldman 2005). Therefore, it is imperative that there is a project to create a system where customers can send an SMS to the restaurant and have immediate feedback.
CONSTRAINTS
Some of the constraints in the project are on the design. It is almost impossible to create a design that will be fit for both the computer browsers and the smart phones. Furthermore, the different operating systems in the various smart phones may not support the website. The next constraint is the maintenance, which will be quite hard for the restaurants considering the complexity of the website. These are the technological constraints of the project. There is also a time constraint in the project. This is especially considering the complexity of the task that involves a lot of effort. These constraints are likely to lead to a short delay in the completion of the project (Lawrence & Tavakol 2007).
RISK MANAGEMENT
Risk assessment
Nonetheless, there are certain uncertainties in this project. For one, there is no clear definition of the time in which the project will be complete. This is because of the ambiguity of the period of completion in some of the stages. This is especially in the formulation of the real communications system. It is imperative to note that part is particularly crucial in the project yet it does not depend on the design of this website. Therefore, it may take more time than expected and delay the whole project. In addition, the resources may not be enough for the project. After putting into consideration the complexity of the task, the project may require more than $30,000. This means that there may be a delay of the project in an effort to stick to the budget. There is a need for deigning of a website that is suitable for the smart phones. Therefore, there is a need to take a survey on the different operating systems of the smart phones. There is a risk of the website not being compatible with some of the smart phones. In addition, there is a chance that the quality of the website in the computer browsers is better than that of the smart phones. The risk that deserves the most priority from the management is that on the finances. This is because this risk is likely to lead to significant delays and if not managed well, may lead to the staling of the project altogether (Heldman 2011).
Risk control
There are actions that have to be taken in order to reduce the risks, as opposed to waiting for the effects of the risks. For one, the resources for the project are not enough now. This means that the project is likely to stall after a short period (Heldman 2011). Instead of waiting for the outcomes of the delay, it is better if there is an increase in the finances. The proposed funds for the whole project are approximately $40000. Therefore, there is a need for an extra $10000 if there is any expectation of achievement of the project. If the project is left to run as it is now without enough finances, then there may be a need for spending in contingency after some time midway through the project. The risk that involves the delay in the completion of the implementation of the SMS method for communication amongst the restaurant and the customer may take time. However, as long as the website is ready in time, the project can be completed at that stage. This does not mean that the real time communications system is not necessary. It just means that this can be concluded with time after the website, which is the most important for the time being.
