Experience on Silence / voice / sound and the sacred / sound art / acoustic design
As a conclusion to the course, please consider how you might integrate issues presented in the course into your life. We have covered a wide variety of issues pertaining to sound,
and with the
final essay, you have the freedom to explore in more depth a selected aspect that interests you most from within ONE of the following topics: silence, the voice, sound and the sacred, sound
art, and acoustic design.
Your final essay should be in three parts:
In Part 1, you should use the study units and references provided to outline the main issues of concern for your chosen topic. Make sure you properly reference the texts.
In Part 2, outline some of your personal experiences that are relevant to your chosen subject.
In Part 3, apply the theory outlined in part one to your experiences (as described in part two) for the purpose of analyzing and, if need be, optimizing your own situation. What does the
knowledge you have acquired through the readings for this course tell you about your own understanding of the voice, or silence, or sound and the sacred, or sound art, or acoustic design?
What would you change, either in your own behaviour or in the characteristics of the soundscape, to improve the situation?
Your paper should be in a standard 12-point font, double-spaced, with one-inch margins on the sides and no more than 1.5-inch margins at the top and bottom.
