Action research is the study of an issue? or an idea? and occurs within the „ classroom environment?. The FE model of action research developed is intended to inform further cycles of reflection, investigation and action in the future.

The stages involved are as follows:
Stage One – Definition (of the problem/issue/idea)
Stage Two – Reflection (review of practice/reconnaissance)
Stage Three – Observation and Analysis (trial and study)
Stage Four – Evaluation and Planning for Change (Outcomes/recommendations)
It is highly recommended that the researcher reviews the explorative text by McNiff and Whiteside (2009), titled “All I need to Know about Action Research”. There are many definitions of action research relevant to FE teaching. Read the definitions below and consider what it might mean to you:
Action research is the study of a social situation with a view to improving the quality of the action within it. (Elliott, 1981).
Action research is a form of reflective enquiry, undertaken by participants in social or educational situations, with the aim of improving the rationality and justice of: their own practice and/or their own understanding of the practice or the situation in which this practice is carried out. (Carr and Kemmis, 1983).
This can be summarised into key features:
1. The need to carry out an investigation – define.
2. Reflection on ideas – review and consult.
3. An action step – design and trial.
4. Evaluation of the effects of the action. – observe, evaluate and recommend.

Write a 3,500 word report for this module offering new scholarship and research from within your own College environment. In the Certificate in Teaching you developed your teaching skills through „testing-out? new methods over a period of 30 weeks of study and classroom observation with the help of a mentor/teacher tutor. You are expected in this module, as part of the PGCE FE, to initiate a new idea to meet the needs of your 14-19 aged learners within the College. You will then advance your idea by trialling new methods of teaching, trial experimentation or support mechanisms for student-centred learning in the area of essential skills.

I mention the project based learning in the paper. The project called The Company. This is the project where students 14-19 years of age, have a task to set up a company: apply for different roles (which would be their written task), sign contract (after they get the role), caring responsibilities-getting real life experience. Gaining new skills in a setting of the company. They have to set up the company, pick the name, design, logo, create end of year show and promote their tour. After all this they also have to write evaluation on experience.
The roles in the company: project manager, choreographer, performer, archivist, rehearsals director, outreach programme facilitator, marketing and promotion officer and stage manager.
