Five Hole for Food: Entrepreneurial Strategy
Individual Assignment:
Read the case and answer the case questions (will be posted below at the beginning of this week) and submit to course page assignment submission link by or before midnight Sunday August 24. Reminder: this is an individual assignment to complete on your own; to challenge your learning and application of concepts based on your personal interpretation and understanding.
This assignment is not to assess how well you read the case but to assess how well you are able to link concepts of the balanced scorecard with its 4 core components and the strategic management system (4 processes), to the case for deeper understanding and application.
Please respond within 3 pages single spaced.
Approach to Case:
Read the case through once without concern for who, what, when and where. Refer to the exhibits as you go. The first section on the first page is always a summary of the entire case.
Read through the case again and begin to note the following:
- Entrepreneurship in an era of social media,
- Nature and culture of growth in an entrepreneurial start-up,
- The nature of non-profit organizations as a model, that they function similarly strategically as for profit organizations.
Answer Case Questions ensuring you read the questions carefully for their intent, with a draft frame of mind. Just start getting information down. Then you can come back and edit and enhance responses to meet expectations of the question.
Case Questions:
- What are the key success factors (KSF’s) of FHFF?
- How did FHFF grow from an idea to an organization?
- What strategic directions would you recommend for FHFF? Should FHFF continue a an independent non-profit or as a charity organization, and if so how should it continue to grow? Alternatively, should Loat and his team look toward an exit strategy, and if so what strategy should they chose?
- How can FHFF maintain its organizational culture while simultaneously maintaining its growth trajectory?
