PURPOSE

The purpose of this assignment is to strengthen learner’s understanding about the aspect of usability in application development. This will help learners in producing a good interface design for the applications.

REQUIREMENT / ASSIGNMENT QUESTION

For this assignment, you are required to select and analyse an interesting application system.  Examples of the application can be a PC application, a web-based application, or an interactive device.  Non-computer applications such as controls for an appliance, an ATM machine, a telephone, and a headphone can be chosen as well.

Then, prepare a report to cover the following items:

a)     

Introduction to the application that you have selected and the interface design for the application.

b)     

Indicate who the users are, and what kind of experience and knowledge they would have.

c)      

Describe the tasks that users will perform.  List the steps required to complete the tasks.

d)    

Analyze and discuss whether the user interface of the application succeeds or fails to meet usability factors based on the following six factors:
