The readings have discussed methods for thinking about the balance between equal opportunity and individual dignity. Choose a specific audience, such as parents, school board, other educators, and so on, and create a professional presentation using people first language. Use one of the following: Prezi, Emaze, Videoscribe, Buncee, Haiku Deck, Explain Everything, SlideDog, Google Slides, or similar tool. (If you need assistance with these new tools, most of them provide quality help pages or have how-to videos on YouTube.)

Include the following:

• Demonstrate an understanding of equity v equality.
• Compare and contrast the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 as explained in the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
  • Define each of the following terms:
  • Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE)
  • Least Restrictive Environment (LRE)
  • Individual Education Plan (IEP)
• Explain each of the following terms and provide at least two examples for each:
  • Accommodations
  • Modifications
  • Inclusion
• Provide an overview of due process as it applies to discipline and behavior of children with disabilities.
