Professional Expectations of Registered Nurse and Certified Nursing Assistant

Delegation in the nursing profession is the transfer of responsibility for a specific task from the nurse to another health care professional while the nurse remains responsible for the outcome of the direct conciuences. As stated in the national guidelines for Nursing Delegation, it entails effective communication, empowering employees to make decisions based on their own judgement, and the support of all health care levels (2016). The delegation entails specific tasks for the leader, the authorised individual nurse, and the delegate. It is important to assign tasks that the delegate fully understands and can complete. As a technician in the emergency department, I have served as a representative on numerous occasions. The most efficient and correct method of ensuring that questions are asked and follow-up is done with the nurse who has asked me to perform a task. Monitoring the assigned task as a health care professional ensures that the patient has been treated properly and correctly. Delegating a task that is poorly performed or harms the patient puts the patient’s safety at risk and may result in nursing responsibility.

Proper Communication contributes to the ability to provide an indivisualized care toa given patient and necessitates effective performance. It entails active listening as well as adequate response to patient needs and concerns. It entails an accurate assessment of body language as well as a nonjudgmental attitude. RNs and CNAs must be communicative in order to complete tasks correctly and in good time. Errors occur when there is a lack of communication. Such human error caused may jeopardise a patient’s safety. Delegation is an essential part of being a manager, and effectively delegating necessitates effective communication.
