Introduction

The Paris Climate Agreement, also known as the Paris Climate Accord, is a joint effort to decrease greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change between the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom. At the UNFCCC’s 21st Conference of the Parties in Paris, some 196 delegates from all over the world met to debate the future of our planet (Victor, 2017). Around 153 countries approved the pact in 2015, including the United States, and 147 countries have formally agreed to cut greenhouse gas emissions (Victor, 2017). An excellent endeavor to protect the Earth, the Paris Accord; many of these countries aren’t keeping their pledges because they think it’s unrealistic. When President Trump took office, one of the essential donors who had vowed to remain faithful and make a difference in the United States, he formally chose to remove the United States out of the Paris Accords (Ellis, 2017).

The Paris Climate Agreement has a beautiful strategy. A worldwide approach is being attempted by including as many countries as possible in the issue of greenhouse gas emission reductions. More than 150 countries agreed to what? One of the long-term aims of mitigation, lowering emissions, is to keep the global average temperature from rising by more than 2 degrees Celsius (Anonymous, 2017). The goal is to keep the temperature at or below 1.5 degrees Celsius (Anonymous, 2017). All countries must surpass their previous targets for this to work. Developing countries, on the other hand, will take longer. In the discussion on transparency and global stocktaking, it was decided upon to meet every five years and debate further goals with scientific advancements (Anonymous, 2017). As part of their transparency and accountability strategy, they aim to report to the public and each other how they intend to achieve their goals (Anonymous, 2017). Keeping in mind that this is an international accord, it’s crucial to assist underdeveloped nations. The countries have also agreed upon loss. Loss mitigation and damage repair are equally important (Anonymous, 2017).

Even if the Paris Agreement has a solid strategy, the United States must be a part of it. President Trump withdrew the United States from the pact a few months into the new year, including environmental pollution protections (Luscombe, 2017). He argues it is the plunder of American wealth regarding money spent on climate change (Luscombe, 2017). This has a problem with it. The European Union has difficulty increasing its reliance on renewable energy sources to meet its targets (Victor, 2017). Despite the country’s vow to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Japan’s cost is too high to sustain (Victor, 2017). If the United States pulls out of the agreement and focuses on other issues, emissions will skyrocket.

U.S. News has sparked outrage throughout the world, and it’s affecting our own country. Many U.S. businesses and oil corporations, including Mobil, are disappointed to learn that the United States has no plans to assist in the relief effort in Haiti (Luscombe, 2017). He supports Walmart, Ford, and General Motors do not endorse his choice and plan to pursue their own climate goals despite his backing (Luscombe, 2017). former U.S. President Barack Obama said he would reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 26-28 percent, while his actual reduction rate was less than 19 percent. With Trump and Biden administration, we may expect even lower levels of cooperation (Victor, 2017). The Trump administration was made to appear like a laughing joke when war-torn Syria and Nicaragua declared they would join the Accord (Dennis, 2017). With Trump’s decision, the work of former President Barack Obama is going backward. His goal was to get everyone on board with the Accord since it was the “greatest opportunity we have to rescue the one world that we have.” When he was replaced, “I was chosen to represent the inhabitants of Pittsburgh, not Paris” (Denis, 2017).

Although the Climate Accords are fantastic, they aren’t strong enough and are extremely difficult to implement unless everyone is willing to take risks and spend money. Rather than stating, “I will do this,” they could educate local governments on reducing the amount of pollution they release into the sky. The Trump administration’s decision to pull out of the Paris Agreement is absurd since it relies on basic science. It is reshaped and reassessed every five years, but Trump believes it is unfair to the United States and will negatively impact American workers. The Earth’s temperature is expected to continue increasing (Macguire, 2017). As the world warms, we should expect an increase in extreme weather events like tornadoes, hurricanes, and hurricane-induced flooding, as well as an increase in drought-induced food shortages. The United States and world diplomacy will suffer as a result of this choice.
