Introduction

Corruption is one of the most common evils in the modern society. it is present among private and public sectors and the people who encourage it are the ones who have power in their various positions in the employment sector. The analysis of “Noble Cause Corruption and the Police Ethic” by Harrison and “The Corruption Continuum” by Trautman reveal various aspects that enhance corruption.

“Noble Cause Corruption and the Police Ethic” by Harrison is an article that discusses various aspects about the police. According to the article, the police are the only ones who can make individual judgments (Harrison, 1999). All other justice bodies must make decisions according to what the law requires. A policeman can decide whether they can shoot to defend themselves or let a criminal go. This leads to corruption because in most cases they base their decisions according to what favors them most.

“The Corruption Continuum” by Trautman is about corruption in various work places. Many organizations become corrupt because of the small negative aspects that are present in companies. Negligence of organizational ethics and hypocrisy also enhance corruption. Misconduct is an issue that should be addressed as soon as it is noticed. When an administrator chooses to ignore this issue, they encourage bigger problems (Trautman, 2000). A company that operates on a survival for the fittest basis also encourages corruption in most of its operations. Many employees do whatever they can to earn a living.

Conclusion

Corruption is an issue that starts with the small problems that people in high places choose to ignore. The two articles are true about the current causes of corruption in the society. What I agree with most is that administrators contribute immensely on the issue of corruption in their organizations. Corruption is a result of the social problems, which individuals face due to fluctuating economy.
