There is No Hope of Doing Perfect Research

When people are involved in the process of gathering information, which is useful, this is known as research. There are many forms by, which material for research can be obtained, such as through newspapers, the internet, journals, among others. This means that nature ensures that human knowledge cannot be contained, thus the reason why the constant need to indulge in research. Since people want to come up with up-gradations, inventions, discoveries and innovations, research will continue forever. People’s minds as well as other information obtained from print sources are used in research. This means that research is not perfect since, the information being used is derived from other sources. In conducting research, there are often misunderstandings and errors, as human beings are not perfect, thus are bound to incur problems in their work (Mehra, 2002. 1).

People are predestined to have the knowledge, which is provided by nature, through the laws that it provides. It is through the basis of trial and errors, that human have acquired knowledge. In the process of research, error, which is obtained from trial, occurs often. The research is often filled with misunderstandings, mistakes, inaccuracies and errors. Thus, the different elements have ensured that it is not possible to have research that is perfect. Failure is bound to occur when coming up with research that is meant to be original (Mehra, 2002. 1). In research, the word perfect does not exist, even in nature. During research, factors such as quantity and quality are achieved and this is not in line with perfection. Despite many attempts to come up with perfect research, it has never been realized even by the greatest scientists in the world. Rejection of theories takes place in a constant basis, and this means that perfection has not yet been achieved.

Griffiths believes that it is possible to obtain research, which is perfect, as this process is taking place on a daily basis. I do not agree with this notion as perfection is impossible. The nature of research is that repetition occurs a lot and this makes the process not to be original as it ought to be. Facts are often known to be true and thus, the people involved in research try to find out how they can come up with their own. Recognition plays an essential role as a motivator for people who want to come with their research (Mehra, 2002. 1). This means that people will come out with research, which has no value or is false, just to gain recognition. For example, research on vehicles occur regularly, engineers try and come up with cars, which they want to be perfect. Despite coming up with models of cars, they have never concluded that a certain make of a car, is perfect. If a perfect car would have been invented, the productions of new cars would forever cease (Schwartz, 2008. 1771). The other example of where the facts prove that research will never be perfect is in ending famine. Many attempts have been made to end famine, through coming up with methods such as land reclamation. If the research to find the perfect method was found, people would not be losing their lives due to hunger.

In conclusion, I do not agree with Griffiths, who believes that perfect research is possible to attain. This is because it has been proven in many situations that imperfection exists. If indeed there was research, which is perfect, life would not be as it is today.
