Graham is a fulltime employee at a consultancy company where he has served for seven months. Since getting the job, Graham has impressed his seniors with excellent result where he recently got a promotion as the head in his team. One of Graham’s strengths is that he has been able to create bonds with his colleagues and this has added to his ability to work and deliver good results. Graham’s supervisor has been impressed by his good qualities and ethics that has been growing day by day. To add on this, Graham’s has been able to bring a new taste to the work place where he has inspired other workers to do their best and this has collectively improved the company’s image and results. Graham has always commented positively about the company and realizes that he has to do more to earn more recognition and even promotion. Based on his outlook, Graham understands that his success relies on how he makes his decisions. The force behind his motivation were somehow unfamiliar that gave him sleepless nights in trying to figure out his path in life.

Back in his mind, Graham knew that all he had to do was to figure out what and how to approach his boss. Having been recognized through his hard work and ability to deliver on time, Graham was already becoming more and more popular at the work place. The dilemma on how to handle the situation affected Graham even in his performance that led to his supervisor getting concerned. Graham knew that uncovering the story would be a great betrayal to his friend who was the reason he got the job in the first place. The dilemma did not weigh down Graham but also affected how they related with his co-worker that led to the colleagues noticing something unusual. Still, Graham knew that the story was already a big issue that would not only affect the image of his colleague but harm his position and reputation. The workplace setting was also structured to align with what was based on ethics and morals. Graham was therefore in a dilemma on whether to act in honesty or keep the deep secret and save his dear friend from losing his job. The more he kept it in his heart, the more it burnt in his soul and gave him sleepless nights.

One day the supervisor insisted on carrying out an investigation to find out the cause and those liable for the mess the company was facing. Graham knew that his stay at the company relied on how best he upheld his image that was at its all time high at the moment. On the other hand, his colleague was already undergoing some issues at the job that made him number one suspect. The lost money had to be found or else the manager had threatened to do away with some workers.

One of the defining moments was the decision that Graham had to make to ensure he stroke balance between his friendship and still maintain his reputation. The supervisor insisted on learning about the events that transpired before the money was lost. Graham as the person in charge that day had to explain how the money disappeared thus putting him in a very sensitive situation. Graham’s friend begged him to keep things down as the issue would result in both losing their jobs. One thing that remain clear is that once the issue came to light, there was no turning back and the truth had to reveal one day. Graham in his own capacity decided to present the matter and explain how he was unable to gather information about the money.

The supervisor directed the department head to go through the office surveillance videos that would reveal the event that unfolded that day. During the investigation, no one was required to present any case that would interfere with the truth and this meant that Graham could no longer move forward with the information he had regarding his friend. On the other hand, the supervisor was starting to become inquisitive as he had learnt that the videos only showed that the money disappeared at Graham’s desk. The investigator came up with the full video that showed Graham putting the money on the desk and leaving for a tea break. More information showed that Graham’s friend entered the room and took the envelope that contained the money. The video also also showed that Graham entered the room and talked to his friend for ten minutes where he later left holding the envelope with Graham seeing all the events. The supervisor was surprised to see that Graham did not check to see whether the envelope that Graham carried was the one he had left at the table.

In his conclusion, the supervisor affirmed that Graham and his friend were liable for the missing money as they were both at the room when the envelope disappeared. The other conformation that made was that Graham might have been involved in planning the issue because of how his friend entered and left the room with the envelope. The other evident thing was that Graham did not present the case once he realized that the money was missing but chose to keep quiet until the issue was raised by the department head. Once the evidence was presented, Graham was accused of intentionally plotting to steal the money from the department head’s office. In his defense, Graham argued that he did not realize that the envelope contained money as he could not have left it unguarded on the table.

The other argument presented by Graham was that he was sure that no one would enter the room in his absence. The supervisor intervened that Graham was liable for the whole issue that risked his termination from the job unless his friend admitted the offense. The ultimate conclusion was made where the supervisor and the department head argued that Graham was liable and had to be suspended for three months. The news was very shocking to Graham who was already working hard to earn more recognition and promotion. The results of the case taught Graham that truth holds more weight than lies. He concluded that after the three months suspension, he would establish some principles that would ensure that he would not get into such a mess again. Graham was rather irritated that he got into such troubles because of his friend that he had dearly held close as a partner at the workplace and a long-time ally. One of the main lessons in this case is that the events that transpired could have been avoided of only Graham stood his ground by telling the truth. The decision to conceal and save his friend caused the problems that even affected his reputation and his relationship with his seniors.
