In today’s digital age, more people are communicating than ever before with friends and family through social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. We can upload videos to YouTube to communicate with the public and give our opinions on products through online reviews. In fact, the media has become a powerful tool that enables us to perform many different tasks.

The media industry is full of risk and danger. Everyone involved in the media creates journalism, publishing and broadcasting; but it is hard to know how much risk one may experience because of these activities. It is difficult for people who are new in these fields to understand what they can do legally, especially in regards of copyright issues and libel. The book Media Law and Ethics tries to bring some order into the confusion by explaining the rules that we must obey when working within this field.

In my opinion, I would add a lot of information about libel and defamation. The book does a wonderful job of explaining different issues that arise from using the PC, cell phones, tablets and other digital media. The book is very comprehensive. There are a lot of rules that one must know in regards to copyright infringement and libel. In fact, most people do not understand that they could be sued for their opinions which can be misconstrued as libel or slander by the professional themselves or their company’s enemy.

The use of the Internet has changed society in an aspect that is more business than ever before; but according to this textbook, we need to understand our rights and obligations as well as those of others. In conclusion, this book is vital to any journalist’s library, not just the fact-oriented one. It touches on many of the vital and important ethical issues that are going to be debated in journalism in years to come — everything from how much is too much when it comes to the sharing of information and personal privacy, to how citizen journalists will change the way we view society. The book includes a thorough discussion on hackers and activist groups, who have been changing conventional journalistic practices around surveillance and hacktivism for some time now. the main issue according to me is the bias of the media. I think that media outlets should be kept separate from political and economic powers so that there will be no conflict of interest, because this book has shown that media who have a special interest in certain groups or people can do anything to promote their own self-interests.
