ICPA is a political and non-profit making independent body established in Australia which is dedicated to ensure that all students from rural and remote areas have equity access to appropriate and continuing education, (ICPA, 2011). This body seeks to ensure that the federal government continually gives adequate funding to students and schools from disadvantaged regions on an equitable basis. In addition, aims at assisting students from rural and remote areas have access to educational opportunities that are at least equivalent to those available to urban students.

As stipulated under ICPA policies and objectives (2009, p. 2), ICPA aims to ensure that children and families are able to reach their individual optimal educational potential through special education, school term hostels, country area programmes, distance education, education allowances, travel boarding schools and others. Project 1: ICPA has been undertaking a project known as Country Areas Programme (CAP) that seeks to ensure that federal government adequately funds students and schools from disadvantaged geographic regions, (ICPA, 2009, p.4).

Project 2: Through a project called early childhood education and care, ICPA seeks to ensure that an appropriate and affordable range of early childhood programmes are available to provide support to children and parents who live in rural and remote areas, (ICPA, 2009, p.3).

Project 3: ICPA ensures the provision of suitable government allowances to students in rural and remote areas, (ICPA, 2009, p.5). Such allowances assist in compensating families and their children for additional costs incurred in their education.

SEDIF are funds that were established by the government of Australia on July 2010 (SEDIF guidelines, 2010, p4). The principal objective of SEDIF is to establish several investment funds aimed at generating social impact investment in addition to financial return and increase capital for social enterprises in Australia through capacity building. In addition, SEDIF aims at providing catalyst for market development, enhance capacity building for social enterprises, and remove barriers existing to social impact investment and access to capital.

According to SEDIF guidelines, (2010, p5), the funding is meant to achieve a cultural and practical shift from traditional grant making and government funding towards other approaches that can improve access to capital for social reasons . In that respect, SEDIF seeks way to add more investments in a more sustainable way that will help to address social and environmental challenges in greater scale. Basically, SEDIF aims at laying long-term investments in areas of priority for social impact.

Project 1: In September 2010, the government of Australia opened the inaugural Social Business Australia lecture -Investing in Alternative Economic Futures. This project which was funded by SEDIF was meant to give voice to the many businesses such as co-operatives, mutual and social forums that are thriving in the economy. (Social Enterprise Forum held on 5th, Nov, 2010)

Project 2: In August 2010, the government of Australia launched a project called Financing Social Enterprise: understanding needs and realities to oversee the viability and sustainability of social enterprise organizations, (SEF, 2010). This project was funded under SEDIF

Project 3: In November 2010 $1 million professional partnership project in partnership with four other professional services firms was unveiled by the government of Australia and funded under SEDIF. The aim of the project was to providing support inform of consultancy services, including expert technical and business advice and particularly focusing on social enterprises funded through jobs fund. (SEF, 2010)

NRF is an independent government agency of South Africa that promotes and supports research in all fields of knowledge. This body also conducts research and provides access to national research facilities. The main objectives of NRF is to support and promote research through funding human capacity development and to provide the necessary research facilities in order to encourage creation of knowledge, innovation and development in all fields of social and naturals sciences, humanities and technology as well as indigenous knowledge systems, (NRF 2010).

Project 1: On 01- 06 -2010, NRF called for applications for bursaries available to those who want to undertake national diploma, undergraduate and postgraduates in South Africa, (NAF, 2010)

Project 2: Since the year 2000 onwards, NRF unveiled a collection of database called the NEXUS database system covering research information for all scientific disciplines. The project provides funding to current and completed research projects including masters and doctoral studies since 1900 onwards, professional associations as well as conferences website, (NAF, 2010)

Project 3: NRF put up a project in the year 2003 called National Astrophysics and Space Science Program (NASSP) to support research and postgraduate profile of institutions in South Africa and enhance transformation in physical sciences. The aim of the project was to produce scientists with broad based skills useful in industry as well as for research in astronomy, astrophysics and space science, (NAF, 2010).
