Emotional Appeals In Chief Joseph’s Speech

Within Joseph speech there exist many sentences which to me qualify as effective emotional appeals. During the last battle, Joseph says “It is cold and we have no blankets. The little children are freezing to death” Joseph. This sentence draws us to the Real plight of the children imagining their status with the cold diseases were bound to attack them and also many of them would die. It leaves us being sympathetic of the little children. Chief Joseph also says that “I would rather give up my father’s grave. I would rather give up everything than have the blood of the white men upon the hands of my people” Joseph. When he talks of rather than the war this is emotional in that we get to truly understand his passion and love for his people and the troubles he was willing to go through giving up a fathers grave is not something that anybody would be willing to give up easily.

Still when Joseph talks about rather than the war, he says that “When my young men began the killing my heart hurt,” Joseph. This shows us how much regard he had for human life it leaves us audiences imagining of the troubles he had with his heart in coming to reality with these killings. During the last battle Joseph says “I could not bear to see my wounded men and women suffer any longer,” Joseph. This in itself leaves us sympathizing both with Joseph due to the responsibility he had and the outcomes and the people who were being wounded together with their suffering.

One that had the strongest effect is of course when he said that “It is cold and we have no blankets. The little children are freezing to death” Joseph. For us who have little bothers and sisters it would be so painful to see them in any kind of suffering.

Emotional appeals has both negative and positive effects to conducting a research and finding resources in that, the emotional appeals might directly influenced you to make a wrong judgment when conducting the research. One might also not include the content he or she deems contrary to what the emotional appeal effect had on him. Many research subjects are also bound to may be give data basing on the emotional appeals hence you may never obtain data relating to the opposite side of the emotional appeals. In cases where the emotional appeal was somehow touched the research subjects, more people shall be willing to contribute making it easier to obtain research data. Such emotional appeal also in some cases better internalizes what is being said hence many research subjects shall easily understand the topic at the time of research.
