Report to Parents on Data Collected

The current research focuses on how parents communicate at work. The purpose of the data collection exercise is to gather information enough to make an informed generalization regarding how parents communicate at work. The research collected information from 11 participants. The information relates to the industry the parents are working in, how long they have been working, the time spent communicating at work, the types of documents they use, their usual audiences, and the purposes of their communication. The research also gathered information on how often the participants work with people from different cultures, and the personal opinion on how to best communicate at work.

The research was conducted online via email interviews. For all 11 participants, emails were sent starting from August 24 to August 30. Responses came in starting from the same date up to September 2. The research gathered both quantitative and qualitative information. The interview questions were structured to minimize responses and to ensure relevance. The structured interviews also ensured that the results were effective, consistent, fair, and that they made the process easier. Information was then recorded in order to identify major themes and common communication practices from all of the participants and information provided.

The results suggest that a majority of parents are in the business industry. Five out of the 11 participants reported being in business. Demographic information points to moms being the majority respondents. Regarding communication. The participants indicated that they prepare communication documents for various purposes including interactions with clients, staff members, suppliers, internal communication, plans, and patient presentations for those in the medical and health sector. The top communication technologies parents use at work include phones, laptops, and the software programs that come with these gadgets. Almost every participant indicated communicating often. While all participants offered different pieces of advice on communication, the most recurrent theme for all was the need to consider the audience or environment when communicating.

To conclude, the research has successfully investigated how parents communicate at work. It has done so by collecting data relevant to industry, time spent, technologies used, communication style, and frequency of communication. Data reveals that all participants have some level of communication on a daily basis. The general observation is that communication is essential at every level and industry. While different views are given on how to best pass information, keeping the audience or target recipient of communication in mind emerges as the most important aspect in the communication process.
