Public health is a large field that promotes health for the population through various professional fields such as, Epidemiologist, Biostatistician, and Medical and health service managers. Biostatistician is an essential part of public health because they analyze data and its application to healthcare, by tracking the health of the population and identifying patterns that correlates with health. Biostatistician roles includes performing clinical trials and they help in epidemiological studies by collecting data related to diseases. Thereby, finding the connection between the causes and effect of the disease (Environmental Science Organization, 2019).

Epidemiologists is a crucial role in public health, because their role is to investigate the outbreak of a disease by examining the patterns and cause of the disease. Epidemiologists’ findings are the foundation for control and prevention methods for outbreak on the population’s health. Epidemiologists role includes field work, such as collecting samples to analyze and conducting interviews (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2018).

Medical and health service managers (MHSM) work behind the scenes at healthcare facilities, such as nursing homes and hospitals. The MHSM’s role is to plan, direct, and coordinate medical and health services for the healthcare facilities. Thereby, producing an efficient working environment, thus, providing appropriate healthcare for the population (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2019).

I envision myself as two different public health professions, a medical epidemiologist and a family physician. A medical epidemiologist is a public health physician that adds medical and clinical knowledge to epidemiology. Whereas, a family physician provides comprehensive healthcare for all ages. These roles will allow me to help and reach a larger population in promoting a healthier community and secondly, I am always fascinated by science and the medical field.
