Reintroduction of Greek knowledge via the Arabic world had a lot of impact on Western Europe in different ways, for example, Greek knowledge had a great impact on theology, medicine, physics, and astronomy. For example, the impact of the Greek knowledge on medicine. To begin with, some of the greatest Arab scholars were able to translate scientific writings on the field of medicine to Arab from Greek. These translations led to Arab being used as one of the most significant languages in the field of medicines. Through this, the Arab scholars were able to lay a foundation of medicine in Western Europe. Most of the Arabian hospitals during the eleventh and twelfth century also acted as places of learning for medicine and this ensured that this information gotten from the Greeks was passed on. These Arabian hospitals introduced a number of concepts that are still used in the modern day hospitals. An example of these concepts includes the concept of separate wards for men and women, keeping of medical records for patients and lastly the aspect of pharmacies (Leary, 2016). In the 13 century an Arab physician by the Ibn-Nafis was able to describe pulmonary circulation this was approximately 300 years before it was described again by William Harvey. Therefore it can be said that the Arabs were the first to describe how the heart functions. During the late middle ages in Europe, most of the medicinal texts were in Latin but they were a direct translation from Arab. An example of such translation was the ‘Tasrif’ which was written by Abu Al-Qasim Al-Zahrawi who was an Arab surgeon. Additionally, Al-Razi who was highly known as the best physician in the Arabic world was able to document a series of 10 volumes on Greek medicine. These texts were widely and commonly used in Western Europe universities. Lastly, we had Ibna Sina who was able to develop and came up with a formula of combining medicine with the field of psychology (Sneader, 2005). Reply to this posting in 125 words or more
