I can’t say that my race matches or contrasts with social expectations because many people from different races, ethnic backgrounds, or cultures are defined by the actions of others that are closely related to or that are of the same culture. what experiences (positive, negative or neutral) have shaped my ethnic identity? I am Co-Chair for ( Equal Employment Committee) I cannot pinpoint an experience that has helped to share my ethnic identity, but I have inquiry more about my ties to Africa and those that I descended from. In my contemplation, I have found that I have more questions than answers. I am more in touch with American culture than African, I suppose I’d have to say that I am neutral. Traveling as a military wife has allowed me to see that Americans will find anything to set themselves apart to show that they are better than the next, with the largest factor being the race. My history and experiences have created and empathy in me, particularly for who experience prejudice and unfair treatment-immigrants (Have people forgotten that America is, at its core, a nation of immigrants?), homosexuals, the elderly, the poor and displaced.
