Your school administration has determined, based on standardized test scores, that there is a need to address literacy deficiencies and set new literacy goals.
As the Literacy Coach, your principal has asked you to plan a series of six professional development sessions during which teachers will collaboratively discuss the literacy deficiencies, strategize ways to address them, and identify ways to measure progress.
Begin this assignment by choosing your school type (elementary, middle or secondary).
Review the six topics listed below that need to be covered in professional development over the course of the school year. Create a 12-15 slide digital presentation showing when you will schedule each of the six topics listed below, and how you plan to cover each of them.
Keep best practices in mind as you design how each will be covered. (For example, how will you plan the PLC on individual student growth?). You are not creating a full presentation on each of the six topics, but you are presenting how you will cover them throughout the year.
For each of the six topics, create a SMART objective as described in the video Creating Successful Learning Objectives. Additionally, use the information provided in How to Make Presentations That Teach and Transform to tailor the professional development sessions to meet the needs of all potential attendees. Be sure to include appropriate professsional development strategies aligned to staff needs.
The six sessions are:

1. Summary of whole school and grade level data;
2. Discussion of individual student growth;
3. Student considerations (e.g., ELL, attendance, gifted);
4. Additional diagnostic assessments needed;
5. Discussion of next steps and goals for intervention for students; and
6. Discussion of plans or goals that will be revisited.

While APA style format is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and in-text citations and references should be presented using APA documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.An abstract is not required.
