Gender has always been a heated topic to discuss, especially when there is an involvement of a third gender apart from the conventional male and female. This is because even though it is true that the confines of the world can no longer hold human beings captive of who they are and who they want to become, it is also evident that there is still a confusion of what then humanity should be and what definitions should be adopted to accommodate everyone in the world. This is because the world gets complicated every day, and we have to live with these changes and the challenges that face our lives.

In the two videos, we see how sexuality is a heated topic and how, as stated, there is an already formed box into which one is supposed to fit. If they do not fit into the traditionalists, treat them as outcasts. Therefore in this same light, we see a new light coming up about gender whereby the social constructions no longer hold and are considered unnecessary when it comes to definitions o gender. Therefore there is space for expansion, invention, and information. Even though this is difficult to understand for some people, it all tells of the current world whereby the conflict theory is the day’s order. This is whereby there is a continuous conflict whereby the world is trying to place everything in the world in the order it is supposed to be in. however, this order is never fully realized. Therefore the conflict continues to exist and to happen. In the video about gender diversity and identity, we can see this very clearly, and therefore it is a confirmation of the theory of conflict (Bartos, 11).

Therefore when we talk of male and female, it is not satisfactory as it only confines a person to either become a male or female when they can become something else. Through this video, we see encouragement for exploration and the freedom to allow people to find for themselves where they belong rather than stating for them what is best for them.

In the video about gender-neutral education, we get to see the concept of functionalism in the video. This is because it talks about gender neutrality, and this is the concept of the world whereby there is always a need for a balance in everything we do in our daily lives because it affects everything we do. For example, there is a need to balance how boys and girls are treated; otherwise, it is with the same mind-set we treat them with that they grow to become. Therefore, it is how the adults form these little people that they become, and it is through this, a balance in life is realized. Even though this balance is never fully complete, it is essential to have it or try to balance it since it makes life less messy and more liveable.

The manners in which the children are socialized become an essential part of themselves. For example, most girls are socialized that they are not as strong as boys. However, even if this might be true, it does damage their brains and beliefs because what these kids learn will always stick by that, and they will also teach it to their kids later in life. Therefore, for a balance to be realized and functionalism theory proved, we need to teach the kids that they are all lovely, healthy, and all love. This way, we can bring about balance and therefore prove that functionalism is almost attainable and thus make sure that the differences between the two genders make no tear up the society later in life (Gehring, 240).
