On Monday we explored the way our relationships with human settlements affect us. Our discussion began with reflections on the way we feed people in cities and the ways that industrial farming, in essence, feeds the city as well as causes problems in cities. Cities are places of organized complexity. I have attached below the talk by the architect Jeanne Gang where shes describes the way she explores and creates architectural interventions through a lens of relationships.
For your POV due on Monday please read the attached article:”Is there an ecological unconscious?” You can download the reading here: Ecological Unconscious NY Times-2.pdf
Additionally, please read this article about our relationships with place: Relationships-Humans_and_Nature.pdf.
Please create a well-crafted essay that both explores how you may experience feelings of solastalgia described in the article and its antidote, soliphilia, also described in the article. As you explore your thoughts, how do your relationships with what we call nature shift?
