Today’s workforce is diverse and has multiple conflicting
priorities. As a nurse leader, you would like to see your hospital implement an
outreach program that will benefit needy members of the community. What are
some methodologies of communication you would use to develop a shared vision
with your stakeholders? How would you apply strategic management to make your
visions for the outreach program become reality?

I would like to see my local hospital reach out to
individuals and families utilizing homeless shelters. The Tucson Gospel Rescue Mission is a
valuable resource in my community where we could accomplish this undertaking. (Gospel Rescue Mission, 2016) I would develop a presentation which includes
the stories of some of the families who are currently homeless and seek
services at the Rescue Mission. This
presentation would include verbal communication utilizing data regarding the lack
of healthcare received by the homeless population which includes, men, women
and children. The verbal part of this presentation
would include numbers as well as ages of the people served by the mission and
what they are lacking most as well as the consequences regarding the lack of
these services, such as patients ending up in ERs when they are in dire need of
health care. Pamphlets from the mission
could be included to introduce my audience to what they do and outlining the
events that they hold to serve the homeless populations. I believe that one (or more) of these events
would be the optimal place to hold health screenings and educations. Data regarding the cost to the hospital,
community and patients when basic health needs are neglected would be presented
as a deciding factor. As well as the financial benefits, I would present the
positive advertising benefits to be had by the company.
