Final Exam covers Chapters 10, 11, 12, 13, & 14 (not 14.3)
The Take Home Final Exam is comprised of 5 essay questions worth 20 marks each.
The materials you can use for this take-home exams are unrestricted. You may use class notes, the textbook, readings, reference materials, research articles and/or valid websites. The main restriction for this take-home exam is that the answers must be your own work—you must attempt them by yourself without any help from others.
Take Home Open-book exams like the one for this class don’t test your memory; they test your ability to find and use information for problem solving, and to deliver well-structured and well-presented arguments and solutions.
What I am looking for is thoughtful reflection and evidence of understanding of the material covered in this course as well as a demonstration your ability to apply/synthesize/extend your understanding of the course material. It is important to demonstrate critical thinking. I want you want to provide evidence-based thinking. That is ideas, thoughts and opinions supported by research findings. Make sure you provide enough information to receive full marks for each part of the question.
NOTE: It is expected that your final take home exam will be completed independently and will represent your own, original work. Consultation with others in completing your exam or submitting other’s work as your own will be considered cheating and will represent a violation of the academic integrity policies of Carleton University and will be treated very seriously. Possible consequences include: a grade of zero, a failure or a reduced grade for the final exam; reduction of your final grade in the course; completion of a remediation process; failure of the course; and/or suspension from your program of study. The best way to avoid this to submit your own work in your own words.
