Each student must choose an organization with a strong, identifiable culture and conduct an assessment of Verizon using the template below. Must be details and to the point.

 

 

 

The student will create a report that demonstrates the team’s understanding of the issues involved in assessing an organization’s culture. The team’s report should be written in essay format (1750-2500 words not including the appendices, bibliography/references, a cover page, or directly quoted material).

• Describe the background, growth, and current structure of the organization. MUST BE DETAILED

• What are some formal statements that are prevalent in the organization? These could include the organization’s philosophy, mission, vision, values, and any promotional material with which you may be familiar. What do these statements suggest to you about the organization? MUST DISCUSS THE CREDO, WHICH IS DECRIBED IN THE LINK ABOVE. VERY IMPORTANT.

   

 

• What is the design of the physical workspace or work environment, and what does this say about the organization’s culture? THE COMPANY HAD MOVED TO AN OPEN WORKSPACE DESIGN.  WE NOW WORK OUT OF PODS, WHICH ARE LOWER WORKSTATIONS ALLOWING TEAM MEMBER TO BE ABLE TO INTERACT AND DISCUSS PROJECTS WITHOUT THE EXTRA CUBICAL WORKSPACE INTERFEERING WITH DICUSSIONS. 

 

• What slogans, language, or sayings are prevalent in the organization? How do these inform people in the culture? ADD CURRENT SLOGAN AND REFERENCE PAST SLOGANS “CAN YOU HERE ME NOW”

• What deliberate role modeling, training, and teaching are emphasized in the organization? TRAINING CAN ALSO BE FOUND IN THE LINKS ABOVE.

• What explicit rewards and status symbols are used to motivate employees?

•  Are there any stories, legends, and myths that are familiar to employees and customers?

• What type of organizational goals and associated criteria are used for selection and replacement of employees?
