Since Zappa manufactures on site its NSW Head Office faces many health and safety risks from chemical hazards, heavy lifting, obstructions, machinery and equipment, biological agents, psychological stress, environmental factors, and ergonomics. With so many risk factors and a large amount of staff in one site it is of high importance that Zappa maintains sound risk management processes and procedures with the support of its work health and safety committee representatives.LOCATION AND WORK ENVIRONMENTThe company is geographically dispersed across Australia, operating in 10 individual sites including the Head Office and main manufacturing (forklift) factory located in Western Sydney. Due to the size and nature of the company, work environments vary greatly depending on the site’s purpose; some sites have a purely office environment, some have production lines, others have manufacturing plant and equipment while others have a mixture of both. The production lines, manufacturing plant and equipment are in warehouse environment, which is subject to extreme heat in summer, as well as loud noise from the plant equipment and moving plant equipment such as forklifts and conveyors.
