The topic of this paper must be should relate to either elasticity, utility maximization, profit maximization, or supply and demand. From here, there are relatively few restrictions in terms of topic. In the interest of helping your topic creativity, here are some ideas I have seen used in the past:

• Supply and/or demand determinants for a given market (I’ve seen coffee, cosmetics, cars, and many others) and how they have changed or evolved
• Change in demand based on changes in price (price drops in computers, price increases in certain foods)
• Taxes or subsidies used to change consumer buying behavior (tax on unhealthy foods, subsidies for clean production methods)
• Discussions of corporate behavior to maximize profits. This can go a lot of different ways – changes to inputs like labor vs. capital, changes in location, raw materials/production methods, etc.; can also be about how firms have maximized profit in imperfectly competitive markets like monopolistic competition, monopoly or oligopoly. This can even include discussion of antitrust actions against companies like Microsoft or Google, provided that it includes information about how they maximized profits.
