Be sure to use descriptive words that can connect the athlete to their specific sport situations and environments, such as “the smell the grass,” “warm sun on your face,” or “the feel of the bat in your hand.”

Case Study: The coach of the Bulldogs team is familiar with the benefits of imagery and would like you to help a few of the athletes use this skill to help them reduce their anxiety before performing in game situations. The coach states that there are several athletes that appear very uptight before games.
