This assignment will help you prepare for your Final Paper. For this assignment you will select a disease/condition from the list below to investigate, select the Complementary and Alternative Health (CAH) system you will evaluate for the treatment of the disease/condition you select, generate a thesis statement, create an outline, and provide a preliminary list of references.

For your assignment you must:

  You may also choose a disease/condition of your own but you must seek approval for the condition from your instructor.

1. Select the Complementary and Alternative Health (CAH) system you will evaluate in the treatment of the disease/condition you have selected.
2. Generate a thesis statement that conveys your comparative evaluation of evidence-based treatment practices and treatment outcomes for all three models of care (CAH system, conventional medicine, integrative medicine).
3. Thesis Statement: Your thesis statement must:
   • Indicate your chosen disease/condition
   • Indicate the complementary and alternative health system you have designated for your analysis.
   • Provide the clinical definition of your disease/condition from the perspective of conventional medicine (CM) and complementary and alternative health (CAH) system. The definition you provide should include specific data regarding morbidity, mortality, and other epidemiological data. In aIDition you must clearly differentiate the conventional definition from that of the CAH definition if a clear and distinct definition is available for the CAH you are basing your final project.
4. Outline: Develop an outline containing the structure/ framework that lists the thesis or central argument, along with any main topics and support to be included in your Final Paper.
5. References: Create a preliminary list of references that will align with the content of your introduction and your EBM review. As you continue with your research and evaluation, your list of references will inherently change, however you will be asked to provide revisions in Week Two and submit evidence of any changes thereafter. Include five- to ten- references you plan to use in your Final Paper. Finally, the list of references you provide must be formatted in accordance with APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

A sample outline is provided below to help you with this assignment.

1. Introduction/Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to evaluate evidence-based medicine for treatment protocols, treatment guidelines, and outcomes for disease/condition provide the perspective of conventional medicine, complementary and alternative health, and integrative medicine (IM) to determine new standards for medical treatment.
   1. Disease/Condition Definition – How is this disease/condition defined by CM and CAH?
      1. Provide statistical data.
      2. Provide epidemiological trends.
      3. Are the definitions different? How and why?
   2. Assessment – Based on the clinical data evaluated, provide a concise statement in how you plan, review, and evaluate current evidence-based medical literature in order to ascertain which medical model has the best treatment approach and outcomes.
   3. Conclusion – Summarize the data and determine best practices for the disease/condition. Design a clinical care model in accordance with your conclusion.
2. Review of the Evidence-Based Medicine 
   1. Summarize the standard of care for the treatment of the disease/condition you have chosen under the conventional medical care model.
   2. Summarize the standard of care for the treatment of the disease/condition you have chosen under the CAH system you have chosen for this project.
   3. Summarize the standard of care for the treatment of the disease/condition you have chosen under the integrative model of care.
   4. Compare and contrast all above systems of care.
3. Conclusion and New Models for Treatment
