?Choose a DSM-5 disorder that has been applied to you personally by a mental health professional or medical professional. Discuss your experiences of being diagnosed and/or labeled. Discuss your experience of discrimination or stigma relative to your experience of being diagnosed and treated for this disorder.
1. Identify or hypothesize the theoretical orientation of the therapist/counselor who treated you for this disorder. Discuss how your therapist/counselor was helpful/not helpful to you and how their chosen theory/therapeutic approach influenced your treatment and therapeutic process.
2. Explain how your therapist/counselors chosen theoretical orientation understands human development, the role of cultural factors, its understanding of the etiology of pathological symptoms/problem areas, and the role of treatment. Include examples to highlight this therapeutic modalitys understanding of how/why symptoms emerge, and how this theory approaches working with them.
3. Integrate your discussion with your understanding of how your DSM-5 diagnosis is understood relative to patterns of disease/disorder, etiologies, symptoms, and effects on health/functioning of individuals/families/communities, risk factors. Also discuss your understanding of how your symptoms of the DSM-5 disorder developed and affected you and your family/community. Cite a minimum of 3 recent, relevant, peer reviewed readings that support and/or contrast
