Task 4 €“ Complete a brief literature search on the proposed question €“ This will comprise a list containing a minimum of five references, and a synopsis of the literature within each reference (approx 1000 words) (LO:a,d).

Task 5 €“ Identify data/evidence (text/numerical) that you think is relevant to your proposal and describe why and your own interpretation of it. (approx 500 words) (LO:f)

Learning outcome:

a. consider suitable areas of enquiry, rationales and objectives for research projects;

b. relate aims of the research to a suitable method of enquiry;

c. consider the ethics involved in research projects and the process of ethical scrutiny and obtaining ethical approval;

d. engage in electronic and other methods of literature search, and locate specialist advice;

e. gain an understanding of research methodologies from descriptive to emancipatory, and their applicability to differing contexts;

f. develop skills in understanding statistical data and the role of epidemiology.
