1. DUE into eCollege drop box 6/12/13 by 10pm
2. The student will examine the daily ethical dilemmas that exist in acute care/critical-care settings. (See Doc Sharing for the ANA Code of Ethics & Ethical Case Studies). Ch.1 of textbook aIDresses ethical issues. If you have not witnessed or experienced an ethical dilemma you may use of one of the case studies in the doc sharing. Maintain the privacy of all members involved in the dilemma.

Dilemma description Describe the ethical dilemma, including how you became aware of the situation and who was involved (family, health care providers, etc€¦) OR why you are particularly touched by this dilemma. Identify all who will be involved in and affected by the decision that is made or could be made. Use HIPPA and do not include identifiers. 10
Identify the ANA Code of Ethics principles and describe how the principles relate to the dilemma/case Identify ethical principles relevant to the case and briefly discuss each relevant ethical principle that you identify (ex: justice, beneficence) A minimum of three (3) ethical principles identified.
You MUST apply the ANA Code of Ethics to the case study- 5

Research similar ethical dilemmas Provide at least 2 similar ethical dilemmas (discuss briefly) and if possible tell how those were resolved. 5

Discuss the outcome of the dilemma How did the situation evolve over the time frame you were caring for the patient? What outcome was hoped for, if no resolution occurred during that time? If you do not know the outcome€¦. Discuss the outcome you believe would be the best for the case study.
Identify the resources at the clinical facility to deal with ethical dilemmas- ex: ethics committee or pastoral care What resources for identifying, aIDressing, and dealing with the case are available? Which were being used and for what reason(s)?
In your opinion, were any available and not being used that should have been used?
Provide rationales for your opinions. 5
