EXPLORATORY REFERENCES LIST ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS.For this assignment you are asked to compile an exploratory references list with resources that address the relationship between Christian leadership and spiritual formation.
Do not request any alteration of the scope of the assignment. It is to be purposely limited to this particular relationship and no others. An exploratory references list represents a student’s initial foray into the literature on a particular topic. This is not an annotated bibliography that requires a brief description of the resource. This assignment is not connected in any way to the writing of your paper.
This is a separate stand-alone assignment that gives you an opportunity to delve into the literature relevant to the focus of this course and to have an exercise that allows you to work on mastering APA style.
The Exploratory References List should contain 10 book references that address the relationship of Christian leadership and spiritual formation specifically in some way, 10 journal articles that represent refereed journals or peer reviewed journals with the same relationship expectation, and 5 online resources of any type (blog, video, pamphlet, brochure, etc.) that also address the same relationship.
Each book or journal article should demonstrate an obvious relationship between leadership and spiritual formation in its title. General books or articles about either Christian leadership or spiritual formation do not qualify for this assignment. For example, A Guide to Christian Spiritual Formation by Evan Howard or Biblical Leadership: Theology for the Everyday Leader by Benjamin Forrest and Chet Roden would not qualify for this assignment.
While each addresses spiritual formation and Christian leadership separately, they do not address the relationship between spiritual formation and Christian leadership. Each resource you use must address directly and obviously in some fashion the relationship between Christian leadership and spiritual formation and reflect this relationship in the title.
Required textbooks for this course do not count toward the total minimum number of required resources because they do not meet the requirement identified above regarding the specified relationship between Christian leadership and spiritual formation. None of the video presentations for the course should be listed since they too do not meet the requirement identified above.
If the title of your book, journal article, or online resource does not have something about leadership, Christian leadership, and spiritual development, spiritual formation, spiritual growth, etc. in the same title, it does not meet the requirement for this assignment. It may be that a book addresses this relationship in its content but not in its title. Since I cannot take the time to look up every book for this situation, I have to rely on the title of the book or article to reflect accurately
