Post a brief explanation why you decided to pursue an MSED, what specialization you are enrolling in, and your professional goals and aspirations.
Then, explain why you chose Walden University and how your professional goals and aspirations align with Walden’s vision and mission statements. Finally, explain a Professional Disposition, Diversity Proficiency, or Technology Proficiency that you hope to gain while enrolled in the MSED program.
Discussion 1: Professional Goals and Aspirations
As you explore the various resources available to you as a Walden candidate in this module, consider those ideas and values that resonate with you. Are you someone who is drawn to the idea of promoting positive social change? Do you want to learn more about RWRCOEL Professional Dispositions, Technology Proficiencies, and Diversity Proficiencies? How do you envision your professional practice evolving as you progress through your MSED program and after you graduate?
By Day 3 of Week 1
Post a brief explanation why you decided to pursue an MSED, what specialization you are enrolling in, and your professional goals and aspirations. Then, explain why you chose Walden University and how your professional goals and aspirations align with Walden’s vision and mission statements. Finally, explain a Professional Disposition, Diversity Proficiency, or Technology Proficiency that you hope to gain while enrolled in the MSED program.
At Walden, we think of “active professionalism” as making positive social change to the school community; whether that be in one’s classroom, one’s school, or one’s community. Professionalism can be exploring issues in the school/community, how you see social change opportunities given your current position and influence, and what possible connections, peers, or community members might empower change in your school and community. Please share what it is that you do that characterizes you as an “active professional”?
Finally, explain a Professional Disposition, Diversity Proficiency, or Technology Proficiency that you hope to gain while enrolled in the MSED program. Make sure you include cited references from the course material and at least one outside source (see acceptable outside sources in the MSED Documents area) to support your thinking.
By Day 7 of Week 1
Read a selection of your colleagues’ posts.
Respond to at least two of your colleagues in one or more of the following ways:
- Note a similarity or difference in your explanations for returning to earn an MSED.
- Ask a probing or clarifying question related to a colleague’s selected disposition or proficiency.
- Share an insight gained from having read a colleague’s post.
Make sure to include cited references in responses to at least two of your colleagues.
Return to your initial posting and reflect on your colleagues’ responses and your own learning.
Discussion 2: Program Acknowledgements
As you begin your MSED journey here at Walden University, there is some information which the university and its faculty would like you to know and understand in order for you to be successful. This information includes policies in the Walden Student Handbook, understanding that this program does not lead to licensure, and the need to have access to a group of K-12 learners.
For this Discussion, you will acknowledge that you read and understand this essential information.
By Day 7 of Week 1
Once you have read through all of the information in the “To Prepare”, post the following statement to the Module 1 Discussion 2 Forum: “I hereby declare that I have read and understand the following three acknowledgements: the Walden Student Handbook, Non-Certification, and Access to Students.”
