Organizational culture represents the collective values, beliefs and principles of organizational members and is a product of factors such as history, product, market, technology, strategy, type of employees, management style, and national culture; culture includes the organization’s vision, values, norms, systems, symbols, language, assumptions, environment, location, beliefs and habits. On a scale of 1-10 (1 being not important and 10 being most important), rate how important elements of culture are on organizational success/effectiveness. Conflict is inevitable- it is everywhere….Conflict can arise from a variety of sources. After watching these two videos on motivation, apply the theories discussed in the texts of this course evaluate and describe two (2) motivational theory you see carried out in the examples seen in these videos. Begin by briefly summarizing the theory, examine its implications and then support your response with an example. How is it successful as a motivational practice?

Week 2 Discussion: team Analysis

This week’s the discussion will occur in small groups. Choose which group to participate in for the entire week (EITHER Group 1 or Group 2 or Group 3 or Group 4) by clicking into ONE of the groups. The article analysis is your opportunity to demonstrate your growing knowledge and understanding of organizational behavior concepts and theories by applying the concepts and theories you are reading about and discussing in this course.

You will be graded on your ability to thoroughly analyze the article and applying the appropriate organizational behavior theories and concepts. Your analysis should be between 200-500 words and you will need to cite your sources according to APA guidelines.

To analyze your case study please provide a brief summary (1-2 sentences). Refer to the following questions to help guide your analysis (due Wednesday):

  1. Summarize the case/article (1-2 sentences)
  2. Applying the course readings and drawing from your own experiences discuss the changing demographics and increased diversity in the United States’ workplace impact the ways organizations manage people?
  3. How does the article relate to Organizational behavior concepts/theory?
  4. Describe 2-3 challenges that this article/case presents to the workplace?
  5. Describe 2-3 opportunities this article/case presents to the workplace?

Within your group discuss, ask questions and possibly debate with your teammates for the duration of the week. In your group’s discuss issues/questions like the following (discussion throughout the week- completed by Sunday):

  1. What resonates with you about your classmates post?
  2. What features of their post do you agree with?
  3. What features do you disagree with?
  4. What new ideas emerge after reading through your classmates posts?

All the rules and guidelines for the Discussion Board assignment as listed above and elsewhere in the course shell apply to this assignment. You will post your initial response to the case questions by Thursday, midnight and respond substantively to at least two of your group members’ posts on two separate days by Sunday, midnight.
