Methodology

Introduce the overall research methods design with a lead-in statement about the generalpurpose of the study and the overall design approach. Identifies the research approach (qual/quan/mixed), design {correlation, ex post facto, case study, ethnographic, etc.), anddata gathering methods {survey questionnaires, interviews, etc.) . Introduction paragraph endswith what is included in the rest of this section of the proposal/document.

Research Design (1 paragraph)

Identify, describe, and defend the design(s) you have chosen for your study. Include data collection and/or sampling if necessary for the reader to understand.

Sampling /Subjects and/or participants (1-2 paragraphs)

Who will you include in your study? How will you gain access to yourrespondents/participants? Which sampling procedures will you use to develop your sample?What is your rationale for using this particular sampling method?

Instrumentation (1-2 paragraphs)

Which ‘tools’ will you use to collect your data, i.e. survey questionnaires? Interviewprotocols? Focus group moderators guide? Observation templates? How will you develop orreplicate your instrumentation and what is included in your instrument? How will you addressvalidity and reliability of your instrument? How will you ensure trustworthiness for your study, ifqualitative? Triangulation strategies?

Data Collection (1-2 paragraphs)

What is your plan, i.e. blueprint for how you will collect your data, and how will youadminister that plan?Discuss your ‘work plan’ for your data collection procedures.

Data Analysis (1 paragraph)

Which data management/analysis methods will you use to interpret and report yourfindings? What is your rationale for selecting this particular method(s) and what are the steps youwill use to conduct the analysis?

Limitations/Delimitations (1 page)

This section describes the weaknesses of the study that are most likely to affect its internal validity(limitations) and its external validity (delimitations).

Limitations: What are the threats to your study and how will you address them?

Delimitat ions: What is the scope of your study? Who are you including in your study, and whois being excluded? What is your rationale for this scope?

Resulting Actions (1 paragraph)

This section describes the intended impact and benefits of the research and how it will improvepolicy or practice.
