Determinants of Health

The determinants of health refer to the factors that are responsible for influencing the health outcome of a person of a given population (Artiga & Hinton, 2019, pp. 10). Understanding the impact that each determinant may have is an imperative approach that may assist in the management of the challenges that may be associated with each social determinant. Diabetes is one of the health issues that affect most members of the community. Among the health determinant factors that influence diabetes is the availability of health services where the availability of health services may assist in the management of the condition (Walker, Williams & Edge, 2016, pp. 366-373). The social environment where one lives also influences diabetes. Individual behavior is another health determinant that has an impact on diabetes. 

The action that an individual may adopt has a critical contribution to their health condition, thus the need to regulate one’s feeding habit to assist in the management of the disease. Changing individual behavior is one approach that may be relatively challenging to change as compared to the availability of health services that may not have more challenges to address. The above is because the provision of health services may be relatively more comfortable as compared to the emphasis on changing individual health behavior that requires the members of the community to be taught about the benefits associated with the involved p13-approach. (Bes et al., 2019, pp. 11-16).

There exist various standards that can measure and gauge the performance of a given organization. Some of the most commonly used rules in the healthcare sector y include the net profit, the length of stay, quality ratings, the mean errors from medical practice witnessed, and the readmission rate after a successful visit and treatment of the various patients, among others. This section creates three of these benchmarks based on the healthcare setting. The selected standards include quality ratings, the average length of stay, and service excellence award. The outcomes of each criterion or standard usually follow a set of procedures and requirements that the affected parties must fulfill. (Walker, Williams & Egede, 2016, pp. 56-59). For instance, the quality rating standard contains numerous areas of concern that evaluate the performance of an organization (Healthcare.gov, n.d.). Also, the service excellence award benchmark uses many requirements that the affected party must fulfill to achieve the desired levels of performance.
